James Ochen is a purpose driven commercial leader with over 20 years of experience spanning banking, FMCG, and entrepreneurial ventures. He founded and runs Ozby Group Limited, a multifaceted company specialising in Sales & Commercial Capability Development, Commercial Excellence Execution, FMCG Distribution, Podcasting, and Charity initiatives.
Before founding Ozby Group, James most recently served as Head of Personal Banking at DFCU Bank Limited, leading retail banking strategies that enhanced customer experience and drove portfolio growth. Prior to that, he was Head of Coverage for Corporate & Institutional Banking at DFCU Bank, spearheading strategic business development for a diverse corporate client base.
At Uganda Breweries Limited/Diageo PLC, James played a pivotal role in transforming the organisation’s sales and commercial operations driving market share and revenue growth through data-driven strategy, optimised sales processes, and high-performing teams across Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi.
He also held senior roles at British American Tobacco and Stanbic Bank Uganda, building deep expertise in brand management, sales, and financial services the foundation for his commercial and leadership approach today.
