What Is Commercial & Sales Capability?

Commercial Sales is BIGGER than the conventional concept of selling. Commercial Sales refers to the roles and skills that drive sales between businesses [B2B] or from a business to a customer [B2C].

Commercial Sales often drive the revenue & profitability of most organizations. Within commercial sales, exists a wide portfolio of roles from strategy to execution. The roles range from sales strategy and operations, sales capability and development, field sales – mainstream and key accounts, route to market and distribution, commercial planning and execution, trade marketing.

All these roles require different skills and capability sets! Hence, Commercial Capability.

The Training Cycle

Working with your commercial leadership teams, we analyze the latent commercial opportunities and organizational design, define & develop custom-made commercial execution standards for your business, conduct baseline training to cascade the standards and knowledge required for their execution, define measurement architecture, oversee its deployment and conversion into actionable performance insights through trainings and oversee an accreditation process to ensure that the learnings have been embedded & consolidated in the teams. In addition, our approach places great emphasis on the development of first-line leaders to support the embedment of the requisite capabilities and behaviors into your organization’s execution culture and be able to form part of the future faculty for continuity & sustainability, this is done through a robust sales coaching & accompaniment model and the leaders as teachers programme. How long does a typical capability programme run?

Engagements are structured around a full training cycle from initial assessment through in-class training, e-learning, sales coaching, and accreditation typically spanning 9–12 months, depending on team size and scope.

Do you only train sales teams, or leadership too?

Both. Our approach places particular emphasis on first-line sales manager development, since top performers are often promoted into leadership with no formal management training one of the core problems we’re built to solve.

Is this classroom training, or hands-on?

Primarily hands-on. On-the-job, experiential learning makes up the majority of our approach, supported by structured in-class sessions and e-learning modules.

Who delivers the training?

Our core team, supported by our wider Professional Network a panel of experienced commercial professionals across Uganda and the region.
